Viessmann expands air quality and ventilation offering – Dominik Berchtold joins family business to lead new "ViAir" acitivies
Allendorf (Eder), March 6th, 2019 – German family business Viessmann expands its actions in the field of air quality and ventilation. In order to drive new solutions in this growing global market segment Dominik Berchtold, former CEO of Zehnder Group, joins the company, heading the newly found ViAir activities, located in Switzerland. With this launch, Viessmann is looking into setting up strategic partnerships as well as further acquisitions.
“For almost two decades it had been our strategic focus to offer the ‘full range’ of heating systems across all energy sources as well as in all applications from residential to industrial”, says Prof. Martin Viessmann, Chairman of the Executive Board. “Now we are taking our offering to the next level in becoming a full stack climate solutions provider.”
Ventilation systems have already been part of the Viessmann offering for several years, having become an inevitable technology in new built homes. However the topic is not a question of comfort only anymore: According to the WHO, nine out of ten people in the world breathe polluted air, killing seven million people every year.
The 102-year old family business has made its purpose clear in ‘creating living spaces for generations to come.’ Maximilian Viessmann: “Our global climate has changed dramatically – globally and particularly in urban areas. Providing the right air quality marks a key pillar in our future offering. We will of course provide a seamless user experience by integrating all our products in our digital services, such as ViCare & Vitoguide – and platforms, e.g. WiButler.”
It is this state of mind Dominik Berchtold, Swiss-born in 1971, joins the Viessmann family. “Viessmann has the skills, the passion and the power to make a major step in the area of indoor air quality”, Mr. Berchtold emphasizes the personal fit in purpose and passion. Going forward, Dominik Berchtold will work closely with the Group’s Co-CEO Maximilian Viessmann to seamlessly link this key strategic focus area to the company’s other offerings.
As Max Viessmann explains, co-creation has become a major asset of the whole Viessmann Group’s activities: “Our family business is committed to enhancing the entrepreneurial momentum of any partner company. We are transparently granting access to all resources within the group – particularly in customer access, R&D, sourcing and digital transformation.” Ulrich Hüllmann, Group CFO adds: “As a family-run business and entrepreneurial leadership team we are very clear on what and whom we value. We want people to grow. We are an entrepreneurial company for entrepreneurs.”
Recent strategic partnerships in other fields have emphasized the approach. Investments and strategic partnerships include:
● PeWo in intelligent district heating solutions in Central Europe,
● Etherma in electric heating solutions in Central Europe and
● Lämpöykkönen as a full-service provider for heat pumps in Finnland.
These activities are committed to co-creating the living spaces for generations to come, so are the ViAir activities. Dominik Berchtold: “This is a unique opportunity for the whole Viessmann Group and I am very happy to be on board to contribute to this exciting journey.”
Viessmann is continuously changing from a heating technology manufacturer to a solution provider for the entire living space. The company develops seamless climate solutions that provide people with the optimum room temperature, hot water, electricity and good air quality in equal measure. In its Integrated Solutions Offering, Viessmann seamlessly combines products and systems on the basis of the right energy sources via platforms and digital services. In addition, there is a wide range of additional services. Wherever technically possible, Viessmann already relies on renewable sources today; in all other cases, fossil fuels are used as efficiently as possible.
Founded in 1917, the family-owned company attaches particular importance to responsible, long-term action, and sustainability is already firmly anchored in the company's values. And this is reflected in the company's purpose statement "We create living spaces for the generations to come". This is the responsibility of the Viessmann family, which has 12,000 members worldwide.
